THE COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER

ministry Dec2014

Through the Community Comes Together for Christmas program, Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge invites area residents to support others in the greater capital community this Christmas season. Catholic Charities encourages you to consider your neighbors and “make their season as joyous as yours.” As CCDIOBR notes on their website, “Many of the families served by Catholic Charities rely on the generosity of our donors at Christmas to make the holidays bright. Many are single mothers, grandparents raising grandchildren, and the elderly struggling to make ends meet on meager budgets. This year, please give the gift of Christmas to those in need.”

Visitors to the Catholic Charities website can log in to register support. Please visit http://christmas.ccdiobr.org/ to take part.

“Praise to the Holiest in the Height”

O loving wisdom of our God!
When all was sin and shame,
A second Adam to the fight
And to the rescue came.

O wisest love! That flesh and blood
Which did in Adam fail,
Should strive afresh against the foe,
Should strive and should prevail.

And that a higher gift than grace
Should flesh and blood refine:
God’s presence and His very self
And essence all-divine.

From Blessed John Henry
Cardinal Newman
(1801-1890)

Stewardship Today is a monthly devotional newsletter designed to assist Catholics everywhere in developing a greater understanding of the role of stewardship in everyday life.
All we are, and all we possess, are gifts from God for our use and for the blessing of others. Through wise stewardship, we invest our time, our talents and our treasures to the glory of God.
